Trial Harbour

DAY ONE - Trial Harbour is located on the west coast of Tasmania. The west coast of Tas is such a surreal place. Being battered by the Roaring Forties has made it into a truly unique landscape. The drive up is lovely; sweeping roads, lush scenery and majestic mountains. It's about a four and a half hour drive to get there from Hobart. You pass through Queenstown on the way, which is also a stunning place, not because of lush forests or pretty surroundings but from the weird barren landscape. Some pics from the drive up:

DAY TWO - After cooking breakfast and enjoying a coffee whilst taking in the surroundings, we packed our gear and headed out exploring. Close by to where we stayed is a path that takes you right onto the coastline. It truly is a humbling landscape out that way.

Local flora

After trekking around for a few hours we headed back to the shack for lunch then jumped in the car to check out what was around the area. We discovered a cemetery near by. Totally lush green foliage engulfed the sacred site. It was beautiful.

Some good fertilizer around here....

This stone is in remembrance of all those who passed in mining disasters around the area  :(

On our return from the drive we decided to go for another exploration, this time heading right along the coast.

My fave shot. Just after this the weather turned and we got belted with rain.

Super frothy

DAY THREE - On our third day we checked out the river mouth not far away for a spot of fishing. we met a lovely couple by the names of Rod and Janice. Rod caught a fish and invited us back to his place for a beer and a chat while he cleaned the fish which he then offered to us. Locals of the area for many years, their hospitality was humbling.

Heading out for the day. Gone catch some fishies

CAR-CASS. Carcass. Ha geddit? Carcass... Cos it's a car shell and like a carcass is the shell of an animal?
